Is there someone that can translate Spanish into English?

Post by mark4440@comcast.net »

Hi,

Is there anyone on here who can translate Spanish into English, please? I thought that I read somewhere that there are other languages besides Italian that people on here can translate.

Thanks so much!

This is a marriage certificate for my aunt, Marie Martinez. She got married in Chihuahua, Mexico. I don't need the whole thing translated just the important items such as: Town or city they were married in; the date of the marriage; if they had a prior marriages or divorces. I don't know why they would travel all the way from California to Chihuahua to get married.

Thank again!

Mark, you've posted a Spanish record here before. You may not have realised it was Spanish. Yes, there are volunteers here who will help with Spanish records. I'm sorry I don't have time at the moment, maybe later, or someone else can take a look.

All good. I remember it was a church record and I was totally perplexed that I read it so easily, because most of the Church records I come across are in Latin which I'm hopeless at, and then when I looked at some of the words I realized it was in Spanish not Latin.

I've just basically answered your questions here. You should be able to make out the rest okay. If not just let us know. It doesn't give ages, just occupations, current addresses, origins, nationality, parents included.

I can’t read the name of the town, but must be in the state of Chihuahua. It looks like the town begins with N – or M

He was soltero (not married/single) and she was soltera (not married/single).
The record is dated 21 December 1946 at 1 pm.

(This is the first time I’ve ever seen a marriage record where the bride and groom were required to give their thumb print (specifically their right thumb?).

Hopefully someone else can read the name of the town for you, and note anything important I've not seen.

It looks like what in Italy is called a "matrimonio per procura" (marriage by proxy?). In fact, two "delegates" were there in place of the spouses.
I read the town is Delicias. The spouses were a driver and a housewife.
I also see that bride's parents were Italian
