Palermo marriages

Post by scraig32 »

Does anyone know if Palermo, Italy marriage records are available for viewing either on Ancestry or through the Latter Day Saints? I have only been able to find the index for 1820-1895 marriages- not the location of the actual marriage documents. Desperate for any help you can provide. Thank you.

Most of them you have to request from Palermo use the index number when you request your record There are some on film not online scroll down to bottom of page to view the films

Thanks Marty. Dumb question- when you say I can get them from Palermo you mean that I would actually send a letter to Palermo requesting the document?? And if the Latter Day Saints says that they have an Indice de matrimonio that means that they just have an index of who got married, not the actual document?? Thank you for your assistance. This is what I have found on the index for Palermo.

Name: Ippolita Perez
Spouse: I Mariano Di Stof (DiStefano)
Marriage Date: 25 Aprile 1839 (also 27 Aprile 1839)
Marriage Place: Palermo - Santa Ninfa
Father Name: Tonino Perez
Mother Name: Maria Anna Napolitano
Volume: 194
Number: 87

Hugh Tornabene transcribed the Palermo marriage and birth indexes from the FHL films into a xcel form which ancestry got from him
BIRTHS
https://sites.google.com/site/palermobi ... /1836-1845

MARRIAGES
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... index8.htm

The records after 1861 birth, death and marriage you would have to send to Palermo for that
Here is the film you need from familysearch from the Registri dello stato civile di Palermo (Palermo),

SEZIONE SANTA NINFA Matrimoni 1838-1840 film#1442239

There is also a allegati film listed just scroll through the sezione the only problem 1839 has 2 films

IF you look through the birth indexes from above here is Giuseppe Di Stefano son of Mariano Di Stefano and Ippolita Perez 3/11/1840 v 456 born in section Santa Ninfa of the city of Palermo

I'm looking for either an index or records of marriages in the city of Palermo from 1900-1901 that are hopefully online. The list or marriages compiled by the late Hugh Tornabene ends at 1895. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

A subset of Palermo pubblicazione documents from this interval is available at

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2051639

You would have to get lucky, though, to have your desired sezione represented here, as it is not comprehensive.

Likewise with the actual marriage docs at
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2051639

Good luck,
Parker
