Reading Birth Place

Post by canavese1879 »

For context: Two of my Italian ancestors were born in Castellamonte in 1836 and 1845. Their first two children were born in Russia and then they moved back to Italy where the next 3 were born.

I am trying to find the birth records of the Russian born children and have a town/place name from the civil and parish death records of one of the children who died in Castellamonte aged 6 months but it is difficult to read. I've attached the records below and would appreciate any help in working out what the town is and finding it so I can look for records.

Here is the link to the civil death record: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... -4JT?i=339 (it is number 87 Filippo Giuseppe Sciacero)

Here is the parish death record https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=5000373 (number 83)

The birth place appears to be different on the parish versus civil record?

It appears the first is "Kalina". The second appears to be "Russia/Siena" if that makes any sense...
