Registration of Foreigners and German Persecutees, 1939-1947

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

Registration of Foreigners and German Persecutees, 1939-1947

Post by DebbieBozkurt »

Apologies for posting into so many Boards, though this was the best fit. Research the Soggia family of Padua and I believe looking at history they were under German Occupation during WW2.

I found Giovanni Soggia born 1897 bargeman in the Padua area in the Europe, Registration of Foreigners and German Persecutees, 1939-1947, a number of documents including his insurance card. Typing in Google translate I believe he may have been in track construction. Does anyone know if he was forced into labour camps and if so why, or had he gone to German voluntarily to work. He appears to have spent the whole of the war possibly in Frankfurt. My German is no better than my Italian unfortunately.
Thank you

Try to search for him on this site, I found documents about a relative of mine who was a forced labourer in Germany.

That's a fascinating find! It's true that the Soggia family was located in a region impacted by the war. However, focusing solely on their wartime experiences might overlook other crucial influences on their family dynamics.
