Italian Surnames

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

This one has an extensive list, but is by no means complete. Maybe try each name in Google translate..? Not every surname has a direct meaning (at least in Italian) as some morphed from other cultures. Good luck on your research...

You could try this one too, even if it's in Italian. I don't know how reliable it is, though.
