Castellammare del Golfo - street in rome
Castellammare del Golfo - street in rome
Does anyone know when the street Castellammare del Golfo in Rome was given its name?
I'm just trying to figure out if rather than the place in Trapani - this man in draft reg could have said Castellammare del Golfo and person writing down info mistook him for meaning Costello Amari Ceddi, which is in Trapani.
This guy lived next door to my great grandparents and I'm 99% positive he was either related to my great grandfather or I have a break - cause that Falzone surname keeps popping up in my matches to point I've narrowed down to a specifc Falzone family.
Only baptism records are available for online viewing in Trapani and I couldn't find him there so I'd like to know if its likely he meant the street in Rome - have any of you seen someone give a street before for place of birth?

There's a Castellammare in Pescara Province in Abruzzo.
Maybe he said Castellammare City?
Do you have the other side of the card?
I think his wife was born in Villamagna in nearby Chieti Province.

Thank you for the information.
These locations don't make sense geographically to be related to me- but I can't ignore that they lived next door and he worked at same place as my ggf and that there actually are Falzones from Agrigento who immigrated to Niagara Falls. I must find their ancestry - especially after a 1950s marriage article I found - I found bride and groom with Martorana and Falzone ancestry in Rochester marrying. Sister of bride is Rose Falzone (not sure same one as Anthony here married) and they are heading to Cleveland after honeymoon - Cleveland being where most of my TI ancestors settled - too much of a coincidence to not be related at this point - I just need to connect the dots - but how does a foundling from Rome come to know his bio family from sicily...unless I have a break and thats why Angeline is named differently.
Heres back of that card but it just gives description info.
Where are you getting Villamagna for his wife?

I wanted to see if the registrar was Italian but I can't read Rosalie's surname.

His wife's town VM is recorded in the side note of his birth record.
I believe VM was a notable part of the Roman Empire.

It's probably Rosalie Martin. I can't really tell either. To me it looks like 2 a's after the M.
You can read that tiny writing?
Can you make out what it says for when/where they married?

190x, maybe 1909?
VM is mentioned after her name either as her residence or as their place of marriage. I'm not sure where they were married.
It's pretty easy to search marriage records for that time period in those two places.

Thanks - does it say Chieti too or is that a guess? The writings so hard to make out. Asking cause google maps suggests 1 in Pisa and 1 in Florence as well. But I guess if its that close it makes most sense I'll go check. I really hope this links back to my PE matches so I can finally have somewhat solved this....

Yes, Chieti is written as the first word in the next to last line before the date of the recording in May (Maggio). It follows VM. The marriage date was April 6 - up top.
Re: Castellammare del Golfo - street in rome
Thanks. Marriage isn't in 1909 so I'll have to keep looking - thats a very interesting way of writing whoever wrote that date - the number after 190 looks like its a hybird between several other numbers.
Re: Castellammare del Golfo - street in rome
Are there 2 marriages? Cause there looks like 2 different dates listed.

One date is the marriage and the other date is when the side note was written on the birth certificate.
Re: Castellammare del Golfo - street in rome
Thanks. I looked in Villamagna 1900-1909 marriages tho and its not there.
