Palermo marriage

Post by cj11788 »

Hello,

The below link is the 1847 marriage for Salvatore Tagliavia. What is written after his name. It looks like agnominato. I did a web search but that didn't help.

I also can't read his age.

Any help would be great.

Thank you

Chris

I'm reading Agominato in both the record and the index. He was fortyone

I've not seen that name before. (It may have been a double surname? or not.) It would be interesting to see what his Birth Record says. He was born to unknown parents so it's possible it was a madeup name.

Hi

Thank you for finding the processetti with Salvatore’s baptism record and explaining what agnominato means. (A new word for me.)

I've been going round in circles with this. It’s somewhat perplexing because from Salvatore's Baptism Record, that you kindly isolated, I’m understanding that “the parents were unknown and he was given the name of “Salvatore and Bonaventure”. (I understand that the name Bonaventura can be both a given name and a surname.) I don’t see any mention of the name Bonaventura in the marriage record and there is no mention of the surname Tagliavia on the baptism record. The marriage index says "Tagliavia agnominato Salvatore": https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 13/LD7xyMq

So I wonder what surname his children went by?

I checked the Sciacca baptism register, which is available online from the Historical Archives of the Diocese of Agrigento for a fee: https://www.registriparrocchiali.archiv ... i-sciacca/.
The text of the baptism certificate is exactly the same as that in the extract attached to the 'processetti': baptizavi infantem heri natum cujus Parentes ignorantur, cui impositum fuit nomen Salvator et Bonaventura =
I baptized an infant born yesterday, whose parents are unknown, to whom the names of Salvatore and Bonaventura were given
.
There is no mention of the surname Tagliavia.

This is very interesting and is another road block. I asked this because there is another Salvatore Taglivia married in Sata Cristina Palermo to Rosalia Madonia on Aug 26 1847. This Salvatore's parents are also unknown. This is the Salvatore I am related to. I was trying to determine if it's the same Salvatore and hoped there would be some information on where his name is from.

Below link is for Salvatore's 1847 marriage to Rosalia.

Questions -
1 - Do you think it's the same Salvatore? Same name and both have unknown parents. What are the odds.
2 - Does this marriage give any information to his naming or why is was abandoned?
3 - On page 706, is that Salvatore or Rosalia's birth? It's really hard to pick out any names.
4 - On pages 710 and 711, anything interesting there? Very hard to read for me.

As always,

Thank you very much.

The two Salvatore Tagliavias are not the same person. One was born in Sciacca on 2 July 1806, the other in Palermo on 15 May 1823.

The document is NOT the marriage certificate, but the solemn promise of marriage.
