Birth Certificate Translation

Post by porta1412 »

Hi All,

Can someone please help me with the translation of the following birth Certificate of Antonio Bueti specifically the address of birth, I believe the last word is Melia, and also the mother's maiden name, Filomena Segato?

The father's occupation i think says Bovaro, which i believe means ox-driver or cattle herder, is that correct?

Thanks
Joe

Hi Joe, hope you are well. This is what I am reading:

Birth No 102: Antonio Bueti
Registered in Scilla on 23 March 1889

Appearing was Giuseppe Bueti, 34 yo, bovaro (ox driver) living in Melia (a hamlet/village). He reported that at 4.15 am on 22 of the current month in the house in Case Sparse, Melia, No 29, from Filomena Segata, his wife, a faticatrice (worker, day labourer), living with him, was born a baby of male sex, who he presented, and gave the name of Antonio.

The other names there are just the people who happened to be at the Town Hall and witnessed the birth proceedings. They were illiterate as was Antonio Bueti so didn’t sign the document.

I believe the mother's name is Filomena Legato.
Side note: on April 20 1922 Antonio married Mariangela Carbone

Hello Livio

Thank you for the backup. Yes, I agree the mother’s surname is Legato. Thanks for translating the marriage entry also. I did see it, and completely forgot about it.

Kind regards
Angela
