Carolina is my Grandmother, Livia (Lydia), August & Lucy are her siblings. The others are cousins, aunts, uncles, and parents. When I was a child most of the family lived in Chicago Heights, while some were in California, and still are. The rest of the family is spread from coast to coast now.

Sorry to jump into your conversation - but my great grandfather immigrated in 1882 through Ellis Island Placido Cianchetta B:5 Jul 1848 Agnone . His name is incorrect on the passenger records as Placido Cianchetta. His family were tailors and I did go back to his grandfather who he is named after. He married a woman here in America who was quite a bit younger than him shortly after arriving, his brother Albino arrived her after him with a second wife.

Placido was older when he got here - is it possible he had a family in Italy? Abandoned? How would I find that out?

Also is it possible our families are related?

The name evolved into my current surname - Sangetti and Ciangetti.

Placido had 4 sons that went on to have families. They were not close- no one knew about any of them but one brother Phillip. They were troubled kids likely due to their fathers death (unknown) Placido was not a tailor like his family - he was a cook on the ship and had a restaurant on Mulberry street and ran cons and helped get immigration papers (likely not legally) for other Italians. I have a rather colorful family history once they came to the states. I did DNA on Ancestry and curious if any of you have? Maybe we are related!
