Tamburrini/Spinelli/Atina

Post by Tambo »

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone has information about the names Tamburrini and Spinelli from Atina.

My Grandfather was called Loreto Tamburrini, born Atina between 1892-1893. He left Italy with a cousin (possibly Bertie Genasi) pre 1915 and settled in Clydebank, Scotland, UK. His first wife was Nicolette Prete who died 1932. Second wife, my Grandmother, was Elizabeth Robertson and they married 1933. Loreto died July 16th 1941.

My Great Grandparents (Loretos parents) are Fortunato Tamburrini (a blacksmith), born Atina 16th May 1849, and Carolina Tamburrini (Spinelli), born Atina 29th October 1850. They married in Atina on 12th February 1874.

I've been on the 'Family Search' site which was excellent and I've emailed the 'Comune Atina' with details of the above to request certificates of birth/death/marriage etc. I should then be able to trace my GG Grandparents and beyond.

I've also checked the online 1901 UK census records with no trace for Loretto Tamburrini.

I would really like info on how to trace the date when Loretto left Italy and how he entered the UK - directly via Naples or overland to the English Channel? How would I go about obtaining this information? Additionally would Loreto have carried out Italian National Service? If so, is there a way of confirming this?

Hope there are other Tamburrini/Spinelli/Atina hunters out there willing to share information with me!!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much John!! I've been awaiting a response for copies of birth certificates etc. from Atina for a number of weeks now but you've saved me a load of time and effort by providing me with details of my ancestors...amazing!

If there's anything I can do for you in Scotland please do not hesitate to ask me.

Sincere thanks.

Hi jcsm - I only viewed the documents on microfilm so I can't link copies. The profession showed up on 2 or 3 docs and the spelling seemed consistent. However, I can't find it in my sources or even get a hit via Google.

I'm going to revisit the records next week at the FHC and perhaps get copies. Maybe I read it wrong. Won't be the first time.

Hi Rose,
It's very strange you find this site.
You have a lot of tamburrini in Italy, everywhere.
Good surprise my cousin.
I'm fine and you?
What's the news in UK?
I was thinking to do my genealogy but it's difficult because there are a lot of countries.
Tamburrini is the fifth common name in Atina.
Love
Giuseppe

Dear John Armellino

I live in South Africa and am looking for Tamburrini's in Monteprandone. My father is Antonio Tamburrini (47) and my grandfather Nazzareno Tamburrini (died in SA in 2005) came to South Africa many years ago. Nazzareno was the son of Maria Tamburrini, and brother to Pipo and Palmina. Any ideas where I can find out more about these Monteprandone-Tamburrini's?

Regards,
Mina
