Re: Need help finding census records for my Great Grandparen
Hi JimmySal..You're getting quite a bit of great info from everyone here. I may be able to give you more. I have the microfilms on permanent loan at the Family History Library for the year 1889 for Calabria region. I would be happy to try and look for your Grandfathers Birth Act or any other record I might see if you like (as a volunteer of course..there is no charge as I am not a professional genealogist..this is just a hobby for me.)
If you are interested you can PM and we can exchange info.
Heres the link for the 1920 Census by the way..

Thanks Lee..thats what this is all about, right? Now we just need to see if the poster wants the info.
Biff, just wondering, what site do you use to find info..it looks like a database only site but also looks very accurate. I'd be interested in knowing if you don't mind sharing.

Re: Need help finding census records for my Great Grandparen
I use Ancestry.com. What I find particularly useful are the WWI and WWII Draft Registration cards when I begin a search since these are the most consistently accurate. Census records before 1930 are an adventure for locating Eastern Europeans and Italians so I use a wild card search as well as a search using year of birth and immigration year with plus and minus variables. Do the same for immigration records.nuccia wrote:Thanks Lee..thats what this is all about, right? Now we just need to see if the poster wants the info.

Re: Need help finding census records for my Great Grandparen
Hi nuccia, That's so nice of you to volunteer to do that!
I will definitely PM you later and exchange info. Do the microfilms have marriage records or is it just birth records from calabria? Thank You

Re: Need help finding census records for my Great Grandparen
Jimmy its my pleasure. We're a team here and are happy to help in any way each of us can. Thats why this forum is as great as it is....
I believe there is mainly Birth acts but there are some death and some marriage acts too if I remember correctly. Been ordering films like crazy lately and can't keep up. I'm trying to scan all the indexes to keep on my hard drive but silly me forgot to write the towns and they're a bit of a mess now.
If I have the films I promise to send the info or let you now otherwise. It may not be for a week or so though depending on my work schedule. Is that ok? Have more films on order so sooner or later I may have the marriage ones too..my family is from Reggio..Gerace, Locri, Ardore & from Cosenza..Malito, San Fili, Rende, Grimaldi, Belsito, Pediviligiano and all over the area. Chances are we might get lucky.
PM me and I'll send you my email. Need to go to bed now..
Good night all and have a great evening.

Re: Need help finding census records for my Great Grandparen
Hey Wldspirit, I could'nt find the birth certificate for Katherine you found on the W. Virginia division of culture website. What last name did you use? I did'nt see any Katherine Iaquinto listed. I looked on that site before, but could not find anything. I thought it was because only a few counties were available for viewing. Thank You
Re: Need help finding census records for my Great Grandparen
JimmySal,
I'm having trouble with timeouts currently on the West Virginia site but earlier I also found a record for Giovani (sic) Iaquinto born Meadowbrook, Harrison county, WV on 1 Mar 1923 to Sam and Mary. Possible candidate for John Iaquinto.
Search using last name Yaquinto, first name Katherine.
