Last Names

Post by rmorda »

Hello All!

Over the past few days, I have found out some background information on some of my ancestors surnames, and was wondering if anyone had any connections to them.

According to my Great Uncle, my Great-Great Grandparents surnames are:

Spano and Neri, Calabrese and Tripotsi

Now, I'm not sure if Neri and Tripotsi are the right spelling. My Great Uncle is pretty old and speaks broken English.

It could be spelled Nari, or even Nerri, and Tripotsi could be Tripoti, or Tripote. I'm just going by the way he pronounced it.

Now, I should add that everyone from that side of my family is from Calabria, Italy.

I realize that Spano and Calabrese are very common surnames, but wouldn't everyone that had that surname share a common ancestory??

Any information you could give would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank You!!

One of the best free sites is Ellis Island.
Try plugging your surnames in and see what you get!
Please get back with us on how you did

I pretty sure one of your last names are "Tripodi".
Spano, Calabrese and Neri sound right.

Are you looking for anyone specifically with those last names? Spano is very common in Southern Italy (Reggio Calabria). As a matter of fact, I post a birth act not too long ago from a woman who I think was the daughter of a Spano...

Here's the thread..
