I'm new to this and not sure what to expect...but any information will help, noone in my family seems to know where we came from!

What are your research goals? Have you obtained any documentation?

well, I just recently started looking into my family's history, so no, I dont have any documentation.
And as silly as it sounds, I dont even have full names of my ancestors. Ive tried asking my family, but all I get is that they changed their names alot and for that reason we cant get any information about them.
Im travelling to New York this summer so hopefully I can find something there....records at Ellis Island or newspaper articles concerning them, since I do know before my GreatGrandfather, my family lived in New York.
