Re: researching Varsalona, Varsalone, Maggio, Narciso, Narci
thanks to all for your help.
I wonder if anyone could help with other questions.
There is a Salvatore Maggio who arrived 9/30/07 on the Francesca. He was detained, but then there is a notation that he was admitted 9/30/07 page 140. How do I get to page 140. Also, it is different from other immigrants as it did not state where he was from or where he was going.
I believe this is my grandfather on my father's side.
My father Carmelo Maggio was born here 9/18/11 and was raised in Sicily. He returned to the US 9/11/30, it doesnt state where in Sicily he was from. The Maggio family returned to Sicily when he was about 2 yrs old. Is there any way to find out when they returned to Sicily.
My grandmother Maria Narcisi Maggio came here from Cammarata 1909, so I assume they were all from Cammarata. My mother's side Varsalona were from San Giovanni Cammarata..Is this the same place. There also seems to be many possible relatives still living in the area. My father's sister Antonina married someone with the last name Digriglio. He had brothers Salvatore and Guisseppi. My grandmother on my mother's side was Guiseppa Briguglio. She died in 1922 at age 27.

Cammarata (province: Agrigento - region: Sicilia)
I think they are referring to the adjacent town of San Giovani Gemini. Records would be at the city hall (Ufficio di Stato Civile) of Cammarata.
http://en.comuni-italiani.it/084/009/index.html
The LDS Church Mormons) has filmed the civil records of Cammarata for 1820 to 1910.
Here are the available films.

Latin-English

I do recommend the films, but if you prefer to write for the records, here is a form letter that will translate your request from English to Italian.
http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... civile.asp
Besides being in Italian, your request should include a self addressed return envelope, a copy of your photo ID & an international reply coupon. The IRC can be obtained from your post office and it covers the return postage for the comune.
Hope this helps.

salvatore maggio was married to maria (narcisi) the salvatore maggio married to carmela garbo does not appear to be releated. the only info i have is that he came to the us in 1907 according to the 1910 census
Re: researching Varsalona, Varsalone, Maggio, Narciso, Narci
My Father was named after Salvatore Maggio!
This is sooo cool. I just was Googling 'Di Grigoli' in Sicily and stumbled on this.
My name originally was: Christine Marie Di Grigoli.
I changed it at the age 18 to: Kristine Di Grigoli Paige
(long story.)
