DNA Testing?

Well yes, but we were after something specific when we did the testing. We heard rumors that his grandfather and grandmother were cousins when they married. We were trying to disprove that theory. We did, but then we found out a whole lot of information that blew our minds. Unbelievable stuff. My cousin discovered from his father (not my relation, I am related to his mother), that his is of Davidic lineage. Descended from King David's ancestors. He's now been able to trace his ancestors back to 1492 when they were Spanish Jews forced out of Spain, where they traveled to Italy and adopted Italian names. He would have never known that without the DNA testing.

I have a David ancestral line from Sicily which I have traced back to about 1620. I have been told it is a likely indication that they were of Jewish descent. I would love to prove this somehow.

I just signed up for a DNA Kit from that free site, and can't wait to get tested, this is all so exiting!

Hey Jim. I do recommend if you can do it, to get a kit from familytreedna. I know it's expensive, but I don't know what you'll find out with the free site. If you can afford to do it, do it. You will get results, charts, maps, certificates, etc. It really is pretty cool. I didn't want to pay that much either, but I set aside some money each month out of my budget to do it. I am glad I did.

How funny, Jim. I did the same thing! I saved for my father's test and used my Christmas money for my mother's test.

I was so excited when I sent off those samples I could have died. Just so you know - I mailed the samples on February 9. The first round of results came back about 6 weeks later (end of March). The deep results for my father came back April 11, and the first round of deep results for my mother failed. The second try will be back this week. So it takes two to three months for everything. But well worth the wait.
