Muccioli's and Mastrangelo's from Auletta

Post by joe4227 »

Looking for contacts or info re: the Muccioli and Mastrangelo family from Auletta, Campania, Italy.

Emigrated via Ellis ISland to NY, and thence to Canada.

Giuseppe b. 18 May 1883, and Raffaele b. 1874 and Maria Grazia b. 1886, and Carmine b. 1888 all in Auletta. Possible other sibling was Nadia? b. 1893.

All were children of Vitantonio Muccioli b. 04 Apr 1837, and Domenica Mastrangelo b. Aug 1848.

Giuseppe (aka Joe Mitchell) and Raffaele (aka Ralph Mitchell) worked at various times in both NY State and Ontario as labourers on the Niagara Power Stations.

Maria married Onafrio Marazzo in Welland County, Ontario Canada in 1904.

Carmine is believed to have settled in Brooklyn, NY.

Looking for any info on remaining family in Italy, or in North America.

Hello!

No, I haven't posted on the ca site yet, I will.

See my second posting (Vitale, Renzullo, Santaniello). There are many Vitale's in Toronto. If I am correct, they migrated from NY through Niagara? Some must be related...

Of course there are later migrations through Montreal, but the indexing on line is poor.

The Muccioli's are fewer in number, and seem to be localized around Niagara. The name was butchered a lot at Ellis: Muccioli, became Micheli,
Mitchell, etc.

The oldest emmigre in our family is my great-grandfather, Vitantonio Muccioli from Auletta (1837-1908). He is buried in Niagara, along with many extended family, but there is no trace of his wife (Domenica Mastrangelo).

My Aunts and Unlces are liberally spread on both sides of the border...

:D This is a big help!

I really had no idea where to start over there.

Also I didn't realize that LDS had Italian records.

Thanks very much!
