APLLYING FOR ITALIAN CITIZENSHIP IN ITALY. (Questions)
Re: APLLYING FOR ITALIAN CITIZENSHIP IN ITALY. (Questions)
I have a silly question on the subject.
I was born in Italy, but left at a very young age (4) with my parent, I do still have cousins living there, am I automatically an Italian citizen because I was born in Sicily and how should I go about getting my passport, would it be the same as discussed in this messages. Regards.

Re: APLLYING FOR ITALIAN CITIZENSHIP IN ITALY. (Questions)
Italy doesn't have jus soli citizenship, so being born in Italy doesn't make you a citizen. But if you have Italian parents, and if they never naturalized in the US (or wherever they immigrated), then you should be able to claim Italian citizenship. Talk to the Italian consulate or embassy and they'll tell you what you need to do.

If you have an permesso or Carte for a year, can you then legally stay in Holland?

I don´t think it would be smart to tell them what I want to do. I can however ask if it´s ok to go away for a week or sopastasugo wrote:The town police.Paul_NL wrote:Who or what is Vigilipastasugo wrote:I would ask the vigili if that will work.

Maybe not the smart thing to do, but it's the right thing to do.Paul_NL wrote:I don´t think it would be smart to tell them what I want to do. I can however ask if it´s ok to go away for a week or so

Maybe I get lucky and they tell me when
Re: APLLYING FOR ITALIAN CITIZENSHIP IN ITALY. (Questions)
The vice minister of the interior, in an interview on Sportello on RAI International, said that once residency is established the community has up to a year to act on the applicants citizenship [entro un anno]. He was emphatic on this point. He said that the time would most likely be less than a year. This is for somebody that has lost their citizenship and wants to regain it. "· residents abroad: you must make a statement at the Italian Consulate stating your intention to regain Italian citizenship and you must establish your residence in Italy within one year of such statement" [Once residency is established in this way, the citizenship process is supposed to be relatively quick.
For a second generation person that wants to claim Italian citizenship because one of the parents once had Italian citizenship, the stay in Italy is going to be longer, at least two years once the residency is established.
Concerning residency, the same vice minister said that the residency is not a prison sentence. Once the residency is established the "resident" is free to travel as much as they want. The important part is to establish that residency in the first place. If the police come and visit and do not find the applicant, they will come back. It is important to maintain a line of communications with the questura to let them know that your leaving Town for a period and coming back at what date. Its advisable to have an Italian cell phone on you at all times so that if they call you, you can respond immediately. You can buy an unlocked phone and purchase a TIM sim card relatively easily on the internet.

You've told him to keep in touch with the Questura. The Questura has nothing to do with residenza- the anagrafe at the comune handles it. The comune vigili come to visit, not the State Police from the Questura.
If you aren't home when the vigili come to visit, they don't call you on your cell phone and ask when you'll be back. If you have a third party home when the vigili visit, maybe they can call you. When (or if) the vigili will return cannot be known with any degree of certainty.

Estimada senora
1- Nos encontraremos con data marcada en mi oficina en Bologna para comenzar el tramite;
3- Con la dichiarazione di presenza vamos juntos a solicitar la residencia;
4- Es necesario entre 7 a 10 dias para recibir el controle policial de residencia;
Si usted desea pedir el pasaporte en Italia con nuestra asesoria esperamos usted a Bologna para ir juntos en la oficina de pasaporte de la policia de Bologna;
