PESCATORE - Avellino 1800's - Please help me find my fa

Post by jenz »

Hi, My great grandmother Elizabetta Pescatore (born 1886) came to Paterson, NJ,. USA in 1905 from Avellino. According to her immigration records it looks like she was coming to stay with a brother (Vincenzo?) who was already residing in New Jersey. Shortly after she arrived here she married Domenico Zerallo.

I can find lots of Pescatores in Avellino but can't make the connection to her parents. Can anyone out there help me track this branch of my family down?

Thanks in advance!

:)

1910 Census Paterson, Passaic, NJ

Domenico Dilallo 29
Elizabeth Dilallo 23
Angelina Dilallo 3
Joseph Dilallo 2
Acterneno Marco 36
Aiternino Vitoranto 34
Antonio Lirallo 23 Brother
Vito Costo 30 Boarder

This census taker got everything wrong. I think these are really your Zerallo family. What do you think??

I can find lots of Pescatores in Avellino but can't make the connection to her parents.
By tracking all references to her possible brothers, a clue may be revealed as to who HER parents are. Also, if she or her brothers naturalized, sending for the naturalization paperwork may also reveal both of the parents names.

Thanks so much everyone for helping me.
Ok - so now that I am pretty sure Bellizzi Irpino, Avellino, Capania is where they are from - how do I find out more about the family there? I couldn't make a match on rootsweb or family search? Is there a local italian website I should use?

Thanks very much for the assistance. I don't think that is him though - He lived on Market Street in Paterson for most of his life.

Do you know for sure he lived on Market street at the time of the draft registration?
