Glad I found this post in conjuction with your response to mine. My CUTARELLI does indeed hail from Scafati.

Now the Mary Cutarelli you spoke of.. I have a Maria..could Maria = Mary?? I know that has happened to me before..so I am not ruling it out. Or they could be sisters?

2nd marriage is always a possibility, especially due to death of a spouse and I don't know the birth and death years of the spouse I have for Maria/Mary Cutarelli. The spouse I have for her carried MY Maiden name of Gallo. Now, this Ralph that you speak of..where was he from?

Do you know if your Cutarelli's ever come to the United States? I was told mine did not..at least the Maria/Mary and Gennaro that I refer too..they date somewhere in the 1860's....and because they did not come to the US I have not been able to find any historical records of them, such as Army Draft cards, birth records, or marriage records.

Hi I was looking around this site and I saw your post. My last name is Cutarelli and I live in the U.S. My father told me that his parents' (Joseph Cutarelli and Anne Savory) parents came to the U.S. from Italy in the early 1900s. What do you know? I'm very interested in finding out more about where I came from.

Hi Elphaba,

Do you have any other information such as where Joseph was going when he got to the USA (NY, RI, MA etc.) and relatives names such as Josephs brothers or sisters, his approximate age when he arrived in the USA. Try and give as much info as you can and the people on this site will be able to find information for you. And was his given name actually Joseph?

Regards,

Elizabeth

If this is your 'Savory' side of you family...
You may want to consider ordering some
of your family's vital records.
They may contain more family names and
places of birth.
State of CT
note: your original family name may be
closer to Saveri - still found in Genoa

OK..this sounds interesting... this side of the family does indeed hail from "the valley' here in CT..Ansonia and Shelton fit the bill for that...

Thank you for that..I think you helped me open a door and keep going on that side.

Irealize it has been a while, but I can probably help out on the Pisacane line from Scafati, if BigJerry - or anyone else - is still interested.

The immigrant I know is Luigi Pisacane, who married Annunziata Avossa, both of Scafati. They subsequently came to the US, first to Connecticut, then to Philadelphia.
