Post by Poipuo4 »

We just got a wonderful contribution of Christmas memories in Italy in the 1920's. I thought I would share. :D

Great memories, alot different from what Christmas has become in the USA. I propose a return to the old Christmas! No more fighting over the newest toy in the mall! How bout it?

I agree with you there.

Many people trying to keep their children happy, or trying to 'keep up with the Jones' ( because what the children have been tempted with on TV adverts etc) and get themselves into a lot of debt which causes lots of worry for a long time after Christmas. -
When this happens the true meaning of Christmas has been lost.

Yes we should take a wee peep into the past, and try to bring back, if not all, at least some of the Old Christmas traditions before they are lost forever.

The latest news is that its being said that its not correct for Santa to be 'fat and cuddly' that this is a bad influence to children and Santa's should be seen to be fit, slim and healthy - Whatever will they come up with next!! (This is true and has been published.)

Christmas has become big business. Retailers rely on Christmas sales to boost their stock values year round. It sickens me. I agree with Emmy - the true meaning of Christmas has been lost. I was amazed this year when I saw Christmas commercials a few days before Halloween. I too would like to return to the values of years past and have people remember the season is not about what I can get for Christmas but how I can help and what I can give to those less fortunate. A time to remember the first Christmas when a baby was born who would make the ultimate sacrifice to save all mankind.
Merry Christmas to all.
