Surname Larrandino and Marchione

My Great-great Grandparents came to England from Sora in approx 1900. They are listed in the census in 1901, and their surname is spelt as above. Anyone any ideas on the correct spelling or help in tracing their family in Italy?
My GGrandfather was also from Sora, and named Salvatore Marchione, again ant ideas to trace the family in Sora?

Locate a Family History Center (FHC) nearest you, I'm providing you with the link.............

The films include birth acts, death, marriages etc. Write down the film numbers you would like to order for viewing, go to your FHC and order. It takes about 4 weeks for the films to come in and the cost is about $5.50 USD per film.

Edit to add comment............I check and it looks like Marchione is the correct spelling but I couldn't find Larrandino, the closest in sound is Laurentino. I don't know if this helps or not.

thanks for your help, I think the correct spelling is Laurentino also. That is the pronunciation from my oldest surviving relative.

Marchione is the current spelling used in Sora and there are still several families of that name but only one for Laurentini, which is the only version used today in Sora.
The Register of the Population is still available for Sora covering the years 1866 to 1905 and listing all family members alive in 1866 and with all additions up to 1905.

On the subject of the name Laurentini, that was my Grandfathers surname in Sora before he lived and settled in England(Domenico Laurentini)

He married a DeCicco in England from StElia near Monte Casino. They owned an ice cream factory in Walsall, England.

I visited StElia last year and found loads of DeCicco's in the next village but none were related to me.

Any further info would be appreciated

I think we are related. My G Grandmother's brother was Domenico. I met him as a small boy, with my grandmother Mary Barnes (nee Marchione) From my memory we met him at the Ice cream Factory near or on the Pleck Road, Walsall. My Grandmother called him Uncle Domenic.
I am told by my Aunt that Domenico changed his surname to Lawrence!! Could this be your Grandfather?
The earliest reference to my Great Grandmother and her parents is from the 1901 English census and the name has been Angliscised and documented as Larrendino.
It shows the family as
Guisseppe Larrandino aged 40 Head (My GG Grandfather)
Columba '' aged 48 Wife (My GG Grandfather)
Raphaello '' '' 14 Son
Carolina '' '' 12 Daughter (My G Grandmother)
Domenico '' '' 6 Son
Donello? Mora Lodger
All from Sora Italy.
We have information going forward from 1901 re Carolina and Domenico, but no family information on Raphaello apart from a marriage in 1908 to Assumpta De Vite. Did he return to Italy? Carolina married my G Grandfather Salvatore Marchione in 1908

My Grandfather was Dominic Laurent from Wednesbury Rd, Pleck, Walsall. He is the same person you visited with your Grandmother and this does mean that we are probably related.
He was married to Louise (nee DeCicco) and they had 5 children:-
Oldest my Mother Columba died nearly 2 years ago aged 89
Dominic Anthony who fought in the Brtish Army during WW2 now aged 89
Winnefred who I visited over Christmas and is 87
Frank who died at the end of last year
Caroline who died in her forties
They were all at the ice cream factory in Walsall at one time or another. My Mother and Winefred ran a cafe in The Arboretum in Walsall during WW2. My Father met Mum there and the rest as they say was history. My Father (Harry Cooper) died 24 December 1999 aged 74.
I am am still a bit shocked at the info that you have given. The name Columba is not that common. In fact Mum gave a talk once to the local parishoners about it. Apparently it means "The Dove". She was also a Foundation Governor of the local Senior Catholic School and fundraisor for her church.
My Mother told me that her Grandmother was also named Columba. Do we have the same GGrandmother?
