Ginochio from ???

Post by Patricia63 »

Hello all,

I have Italian ancestors and have found most of them on the English census but now I would like to go back further. I am hoping that someone can give me some guidance please?

My gg grandmother Sarah Ann Wilkinson married Louis Gasperina in Liverpool in 1840. The census shows he was from Palma. After his death she married Peter Ginochio in 1856 also in Liverpool but the census just shows that he was born in Italy. Sarah had daughters who also married Italians but again, no town or city of birth is given. It there any possibility of trying to research these and can you advise where to look next for Louis Gasperina from Palma please?

Thanks
Trisha :?

Hi Trisha an welcome to the forum. There are two Palma's, do you happen to know which one would be correct?

Palma Campania, province: Napoli - region: Campania
Palma di Montechiaro, province: Agrigento - region: Sicilia

I looked to see if there might be records on microfilm for both Palma's and this is what I came up with. Write down the film numbers you would like to view and go to your FHC to order. The cost is about $5.50 USD per film and takes about 4 weeks to arrive. You will be able to find birth, death and marriage records on the films.

Civil records for Palma Campania
1809 to 1865
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library ... ato+civile++

Civil records 1821 to 1910
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library ... ato+civile++

Locate your nearest Family History Center (FHC)

I hope this might be helpful. Let us know if you have any questions.

Regards,
Elizabeth

Laura - these were the other options for films, since the name is probably from the north, which one do you think is the best option to find the family on film? I left the films, I think might be possibilities, in black.
