Re: National Archives Documents
This is what my experience was in using the National Archives website:
I first found the 1920 and the 1930 census reports in regard to my Sicilian family. I located those records easily on Ancestry.com, which I did pay a subscription to use. The records give a very specific source citation. I printed copies of the reports. Ancestry.com also has many other data bases.
I then went to the National Archives website which Peter noted. On that site I followed the instructions for ordering a Certified copy of the 1920 Census record. I wanted that one as it listed my grandfather as an Alien at the time of my mother's birth. The cost was a total of $40.00; $25 for the document and $15 to have it certified. I listed the specific source citation for the census report. The more information you are able to provide, the more likely it is that the National Archive can locate the record you want. It wasn't until I was in the ordering process that they show the option of ordering a Certified document.
I placed the order on January 13, 2008 and I'm waiting to receive it.
