Certificate of Citizenship- What is it???

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Certificate of Citizenship- What is it???

Post by federici1999 »

I am applying to the Miami Cousulate for duel citizenship. The consulate is taking no appoinments and the office is closed for elections till April 20th. I have been told that they require a " Certificate Of Citizenship" (Certificato di Cittadinanza). Does anybody know what this is. I have my Grandfathers naturalizations papers. I was wondering if this was something that is needed if you have "no Record" with the INS. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

A Certificato di cittadinanza is an official paper from the municipality where your ancestor was born, stating that at time of his birth he was an italian citizen.
I hope it helps,
bye Riccardo
