Thank you again!Biff83 wrote:Hi Elizabeth!
That's definitely the 1920 census for Catherine and son Joseph living with her parents. Shows Catherine as a widow (husband Sam died in 1919 per Angela's post); Joseph's approximate yob 1915 also checks. I've reposted a larger image below.

I did not find any passport applications for this family (Rinella, Quattrocchi, Bisesi) but it was not necessary in the early 1900s to procure a passport for overseas travel since re-entry to the States was relatively easy. After the immigration laws changed relative to literacy requirements--I believe between 1917 and 1924--Italians who had naturalized applied for passports to ensure their re-entry since they were not subject to the new regulations.

Now can we solve the mysterious question of who is Sam Rinella??? This one has been tough for me.
Re: Rinella family
Angela,
From what you've posted and the 1905 manifest Elizabeth found, it appears that Santo (Sam) Rinella, Caterina Quattrocchi, her mother Margherita Bisesi and her siblings, were all from Termini Imerese.
Here's the link to Laura Johnson's Termini Imerese website. Perhaps she can be of help.

I'm still trying to locate a manifest, census record, draft card or any type of document for Santo "Sam" Rinella (1885-1919).

Thanks for all your help. My grandmother had his name written as Salvatore as well so it may be under that.

Most definetely will. My mother met her cousin for the first time a few weeks ago and she has tons of my great-uncles photos and what not from the 30's and 40's. She is giving them to me to scan into my computer.Biff83 wrote:Angela,

Re: Rinella family
Ok, I am finally getting back to this after quite a hiatus
I ordered my grandfathers death cert and it appears that I have been going down the wrong road. On his death cert, his mother is listed as Catherine Bessesi (which I believe is actually spelled Besesi). His father is not listed.
Hopefully this will put me the right direction!

Re: Rinella family
I know it has been a long time since my last post but I think I may have found info on this mysterious Santo Rinella. I have a more solid birthdate of 11/2/1892.
Now I just need to see if he was married to Caterina Quattrochi ever.

Hello,
I find this to be very interesting. My grandmother was Santa Rinella and she was born on 11/2/1892. That might be the record that you are looking at.

As for Marion's Parents, I think they were August Poasteri (born in 1890 in Italy) and Antomatte Piazza (born in 1888 in Italy)...
Any connection?
Lemme know...
