SSDI - How to find it?

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

SSDI - How to find it?

Post by :::BOBBO::: »

HI!

First of all... excuse me for my english....

My name's Roberto and I'm from Italy... near Roma....

I know that is possibile to have a copy of US Social Security Death Index...

I'm making a reserch about the sister of my great grandfather.... she left from Italy in 1913 with her daughter (5 y.o.) to go to her husband, who left from Italy to US on year before.....

They spent some years in Lodi - Bergen.

I know that in USA they have also Joseph (1915-1960) and Anna, born in 1925.....

I know that in SSDI is possibile to have more infos... for example descendants or other....

Can someone confirm it and help me??

THANKS A LOT!

And once again... excuse me for my english!

Ciao Roberto and welcome to the forum,

Records for SSDI only date back to the 1960's. But some of us here can help trace the family through ship's manifest and census records. If you post the full names and dates you know, we will be able to help you better.

PS Your English is fine! :D

Try using this form to search the social security death index.

This one is free: http://www.newenglandancestors.org/rese ... tabase/ss/

It says that most deaths are from after 1965.

Hi to everyone....

The sister of my great greandfather is ANNA CESPI POLISIANI (two surname in my family)... on Ellisisland.com is recorded as Anna Potisiani.. may be an error was made during transcription..... she was born 23 Nov 1886.

She left Italy with her small daughter ELENA CLARETTI (5 y.o. ..... may be born in 1908-1909)

She left from Italy in 1914 to reach her husband AUGUSTO CLARETTI (born Jul 1879), left from Italy one year before (to reach his cousin Luigi Valenti).... they were married on 26 Feb 1908 in Italy.

On some website I fond that:

Anna and Augusto two more children in US: Joseph (1915) and "small" Anna (1925).

In US Census of 1920 the family was composed by:

August Clarette (another transcriprion error)
Anna Clarette (originally Anna Cespi Polisiani)
Alice Clarette (left from Italy with her mother)
Joseph Clarette (born in US in 1915)

In 1930 US census the family is:

Agosto Claretti (originally Augusto)
Anna Claretti
Joseph Claretti (1915 - 15 y.o.)
Anna Claretti (1925 - 5 y.o.)
No infos about Elena

Probably Elena was "trasformed" in Alice... I dont'know why.... Elena/Alice was married in 1965 with Archi Block....

Connecticut Marriage Index, 1959-2001
about Elena Claretti
Groom: Archi Block
Groom's Residence: New York
Groom's Age: 70
Groom's Race: White
Bride: Elena Claretti
Bride's Residence: New York
Bride's Age: 57
Bride's Race: White
Marriage Date: 12 Mar 1965
Place of Marriage: Stamford, Fairfield, CT
Note: officiator Civil Official

I found als these informations:

Augusto Claretti was died in nov. 1977... on SSDI in wrote as birth in 1883, but I know that when i was married (1908) he was 28 y.o.....

Joseph Claretti was died in nov 1960....

This is what I know....

I would like to know more about "little" Anna (1925).... maybe she is living now! And I would like to know that....

Thanks to everyone!

Just to clarify your search:

Anna Claretti born 1925 in (CT?) looking for her or her children. Is that correct? Also looking for children of Joseph Claretti (DOD 9/1960) Do you know where he died?
