Ok another question if I may. My maternal Great Great granmother Floreance Vito was married to Jim or James Vito. She had her Mother Carmela Digora living with her, I see it on a Census, but I am unable to find a manifest, what do you suggest? She also had a sister Angelina (Floreance). I have been to Ancestry.com and ellis island. I think I am doing something wrong though becasue I have hit a dead end. Teach me oh wise ones

Yes, Laura, I think those are correct.

Looks like Florence's children were born in NY on the 1920 census...
(note: in 1930 Florence's daughter Mary indicates she was
born in Kansas).

No luck finding Carmela (1845) & daughters Florence (1882)
& Angelina (1888) in New york in 1910.
That census may help sort out the last name.

Ok yes according to my grandmother, Florence (her grandmother) was married to a NY police officer who was shot and killed, she then remarried Jim Vito had Marie Vito (Cicconi) and the Lena or Carmel that you see is actually thier younger daughter Carmelena Vito (Papalordo). So unfortuatly no one knows the name of the police officer, if I had his name then I could probably find Her madein name. I really wish I could find that 1910 census !!! And boy did they butcher the 1930 census!!! Jim Beto ect. Are we able to see a 1940 census ??

In 1930 census she declared her marriage at 18, so possibly she married on 1904/1906....
