My great-grandfather, Antonio CAMPAGNOLO was raised by a Tersigni family in Sora. He was born 1885 and abandoned on the doorstep of the home of Giuseppe Saverio Tersigni and his wife Vincenza Fraiano. They raised my great-grandfather as one of their own children, even sending him to a private military school for a good education. Although I never spent much time researching this particular family because there is no blood connection, I do know that they had children of their own including but not limited to Luigi, Francesco, Rita and Concetta. Rita married a Colucci and Concetta married a Grossi, all from Sora I believe. My great-grandfather came to the U.S. for the final time in 1912 where he remained until his death in 1959 in Canton, Ohio. Do any of these Tersigni names fit into your research? They would have been in Sora during the second half of the 19th century.

Ive only had this new info on my Italians for abt 6 weeks or so, but heres what i have:

Margarita Tersigni born 1780c, married Domenico Antonio Lombardozzi, this is all the info i have on her at present. Their great grandaughter Filomena Tuzi born 1864 married a Vincenzo Gismondi born 1861, whose mother was a Bernadetta Tersigni born abt 1821, daughter of a Batta?Tersigni, i have this on a reg of population, the fathers name is unclear, i will ask the person in Italy who sent it me, to read it for me.

From what ive been told,Tersigni was a common name in Sora.
If i find any more info, i will let you know.Sorry i dont have more.

Yes, I too have been told that Tersigni is a common name in Sora as well. Actually, my great-grandfather Antonio Campagnolo that I mentioned used the name Tersigni for several years when he was in the United States. He did not legally change his name to that, just decided to use it. Even his children used the name instead of their birth name for quite a few years. Then for some reason they went back to the proper name but changed the O at the end to an I making it Campagnoli. It makes it very confusing trying to do research when I am not sure what name they were using at certain times. The Tersigni that raised my great-grandfather in Sora was rumored to be quite influential and prosperous by some of my older family members here that have since died. Some of the Tersigni's from Sora that were raised with my great-grandfather and emigrated to the U.S. changed their name to TRACE and still use that name to this day.

I have connection to the gismondi family. My mothers side is mainly related to the gismondis. Her surname is valentini. My mother, Antonietta Valentini married Vincenzo Panacci. I would like to learn a lot more about the Panacci, Valentini, and Gismondi families.

Hi Danielle, i have these Gismondi:

1. Gismondi, Pietro b.1874
2. Gismondi, Vincenzo b.1862
3. Gismondi, Vincenzo, b.1909


Vincenzo married Filomena Tuzi
Pietro married Angiola Tuzi and Vincenzo born 1909 is their son.

I also have a Gracia Gismondi who married a Giovanni Facchini, who are the parents of a Maria born 1841, who married a Guiseppe Tuzi.

Any good? I hope so!!

Hi. I am interested in some of the same names that you are. My last name is Polsinelli. My grandmother's last name is Gismondi. Other names in my family tree are Parravano, Palombo, Tersigni, Capobianco and Mastroianni. Maybe there is a connection.

The Polsinelli names i have is Rosaria Polsinelli born abt 1790, she had 2 sisters, that i know of,who married into the Tuzi family, they may have been from Pescosolido, and moved to Sora, after marriage, in Frosinone.I also have Tersigni in my tree.

Wow...you've gone back pretty far. My grandfather Luigi Polsinelli married my grandmother Vincenza Gismondi. I have the Polsinelli name on both of their lines and the Tersigni name on both sides as well. Go figure! Also, I've been able to trace my Gismondi line back to Pescosolido. The oldest one is Carlantonio Gismondi from Pescosolido married to a Lugia Panacci from Pescosolido. Eventually the Gismondis moved to Sora. My oldest Polsinelli is a Nicola Polsinelli married to a Teresa Cerrone (on my grandfather's line) and a Loreto Polsinelli married to Maria Antonia Marchione (on my grandmother's line). What Tersigni's do you have? I have lots of them too!

Hi Mike, yes I have gone back very far, but i wouldnt have done it, without the help of an Italian Researcher, based in Sora, she is really fantastic, and has found out so much!! If you ever need help, she is the one to go for!! I can give you her name, if you ever want me too!

Ok, Tersigni, i dont have so much on them, i have

Domenico Tersigni, born abt 1855 in sora, who married Rosaria Tuzi.

And Margarita Tersigni, born abt 1780, who married Domenico Antonio Lombardozzi, my g,g,g,g grandparents!! I am hoping for some more info on the Polsinelli sisters parents soon.
As for Gismondi, there are so many of them!!lol

I too hired a researcher in Sora to do my research. Her name is Ann Tatangelo and she did a great job for me. I met her in 2004 when I was in Sora. Is that who you used as well?

i have Marchione in my tree, Salvatore Marchione was my G Grandfather, he was from frosinone area (where exactly we don't know) father was Anthonio. My G Grandfater married Carolina Laurentini in England 1909.
Any help with the Marchione side I would be grateful!
