I am researching the Maragioglio family from Salemi, Trapani, Sicily. Specifically, Giuseppe Maragioglio, born 1902, died May 1973. Parents were Maria Angela Maltese and Giuseppe Maragioglio. Any information is appreciated.

Would you happen to know if the "last known residential address" in New Jersey means that he was actually in New Jersey at his death? We are searching for his death certificate.

Usually if a person permanently returned to Italy and qualified for Social Security, the SSDI would show last residence and last benefit per the record for my grandfather's cousin below.

I have been unable to confirm the date and place of death of Joseph Maragioglio with the State of New Jersey. They claim to not have any record of it in May 1973.

Does anyone have any advice?

Can anyone recommend some way of searching the New Jersey death records to find where and when he might have died?

I have made several requests for that info to the Soc. Security Archives with no response and no success.

There is a record for him in the www.ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com under Joseph Maragioglio born February 03, 1902 and he died in may 1973 in Essex, NJ. If you wish written proof then click under the SS-5 for a form letter but there is a feee for the letter. =Peter=

My grandfather's brother was named Giuseppe Maragioglio, born in 1888 in Mazara del Vallo. He left Sicily in 1901 (or 1903?) for Buenos Aires for South America, the family thought it was to Argentina.

Two days ago, a genealogist from Italy on the PIE listserv found that a Giuseppe Maragioglio of the same age, single, a farmer, arrived in Buenos Aires.

I can't find any Maragioglios in the Argentinian White Pages, but if anyone here is from South America and knows of Maragioglios there, perhaps you can help me discover if I have any cousin there.

My grandfather, Baldassare Maragioglio, born 1898, is from Salemi, Trapani, Sicily. I have a birth certificate showing that his parents were Angela Maltese and Giuseppe Maragioglio.
