Rappa Family in the U.S.

Post by geneviev »

I am looking to see if there are any Rappas in the U.S. My grandmother was Anna Rappa, one of 6 sisters; had 2 living brothers. She came from Sicily in the early part of the 20th Century and lived in Brooklyn, NY.

Hi possible relative! My grandfather John Rappa was also from Sicily. I have the exact name of the city/village where he was born (near San Giuseppe Jato) but I'd have to find it. His father was Benedetto Rappa (married to Francesca Licari). I think I can go back one more generation but I'd have to check my files.

The Rappa I am directly related to settled in central NY near Frankfort.

I believe the Rappas of Frankfort originated from Borgetto, which is a small town near San Giuseppe Jato. Giulia Rappa (b.1854, Borgetto, m. 1881, Agostino Oliveri, d. 1907, Frankfort, NY) was my 3x-great grandmother.
