I am trying to locate information on my ancestors :
Peter Cusini b. 1859 (Grosio?) d. 1928 (Victoria Australia)
Parents: Antonio & Madelina Cusini (nee Pinni)
Peter married Giovanna Sala approx. 1885.
Giovanna Sala b. 1865 Grosio, and d. 1946 (Victoria Australia)
Parents: Geo Sala. Mother 'unknown'.
Giovann's death certificate states Grosio as birth place.
Peter's death certificate states only Italy. I am assuming he was from Grosio as well.
They came to Victoria, Australia somewhere between 1885 - 1889.
Their first child was born in Victoria in 1890.
Peter's two brothers, Antonio b. 1839 Italy; Battista b. 1845 Italy, also came to Australia.
I have had no luck with passenger lists. I don't know where else to look
to find their birth certificates, parents, etc.
Can anyone help?
Thank you.
Julieann
Family history - Grosio. Can someone help??
Re: Family history - Grosio. Can someone help??
Hi Julieann...
You can try to contact your nearest Family History center because they have Microfilms about Civil registration of the Comune of Grosio:
The frame period is 1866/1910 so sure you can't find your ancestors birth certificates but (if they get married in italy) you will be able to find at least their marriage act...
From the marriage act you will know their exact birth dates and ask for their birth acts to the church of Grosio...

Re: Family history - Grosio. Can someone help??
Thank you so much for your help and advice.
One question.........I live in Queensland, Australia. Is it possible for me to write to the Family History Centre in Lombardio (for Grosio) and request a search? If so, does my request need to be written in Italian?
Thank you again. Family trees are complex and frustrating but you have helped enormously.
Kind regards,
Julieann

There is a Mormon family History library somewhere nearest your home (www.familysearch.org for location) if this is what you are seeking. =Peter=
