unbelieveble but true!!!!

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

I don't believe this......

I spoke to the court archives, they cannot even find the entry for naturalization, he assured me that they have done an extensive search for the documents, to no avail. He further suggested that they could be archived at Baton Rouge or New Orleans. If New Orleans, that's not good,
the archives were hit by the hurricane.

I followed up with the public library, she provided me with all the information we already have, they do not have the actual hard copy but an index which was taken from the court. When I explained that the court does not have this information, she said they have to or else the library wouldn't have it!!!!

Talk about chasing one's tail......

My best guess at this point......the paperwork is lost at the courthouse or archived somewhere else.......

My next call will be to the local genealogy society, New Orleans archives as well as Baton Rouge!!!

Hugs,
Lee

Lee,
thank you very much for everything
Your help means a lot to me.
I also thought in the past that this paper would be lost in courthouse
It is strange they do not even have the entry
At this point I hope it is saved at Baton Rouge courthouse
Let me know if it is useful to make a written request or something
Hugs

I do not think the spelling error was just a mistake of the registrar...
In my case, it was. They filled out and issued a death certificate using one name in Philadelphia, but when the form was sent to Harrisburg, PA for processing, they misread the handwriting and recorded the death under a different name. So one state has two death certificates under two different names for the same person (one in the local Philadelphia, PA office and one in the main New Castle, PA office). As a result, they do not recognize either death certificate as being valid.

Strange, but true.

At least the poster received something from Pennsylvania. My success has been zero. They can't seem to find anything on the individuals I am researching. Not surprised that what they sent is wrong.

I have had more success with the genealogical societies than the State or Towns. State can't find records but the society has obituaries with correct dates and information.

Go figure!

Dear Lilbees thats why most Americans are happy just to walk around with a drivers licence and car registration. You get a birth certificate only when you want a passport or to prove something legal and thats it =Peter=

Very true, they seem to be much more friendly and helpful....although I have run into the occasional clerk whose curiousity is peaked when I mention my grandfathers name.....seems he was quite notorious I am finding out...... :?

I will be getting back on the phone today to try and track down some further info......I keep getting the runaround which is really ticking me off!!

Peter.....would Nara possibly have a copy of these records on microfilm?
Or would they be the same microfilm as ICE has?

You know the Nara site makes me crazy...but I did see reference to the fact that records from this particular court were archived in Texas......

I am nothing if not tenacious!!!

Dear Lee It is very possible but with the early onset of dementia I am not now functioning on all 4's but www.naturalizationrecords.com/index.shtml might be helpful under Louisiana state naturalization under their "brickwall section".

I think there is a reference to NARA in the www.naturalizationrecords.com/index.shtml for Texas who might have the answer . I promise you once I get it together I will be more helpful. I can appreciate your tenacity which reminds me of me but without a proper mind what use is it? =Peter=

Dear Lee Now i got it straight. I recall now that NARA has Louisiana records and if you go to the Louisiana Natz page it will give you Texas NARA address as repository for Louisana archives..They may have the microfilm record. =Peter=
