Filippa Ristango , Piazza Armerina Sicilia

Post by Romano1970 »

Hello,

I was able to get the names of my grandfathers parents.

They were:

Father Filippo Romano ( Romano, Filippo )
Mother Filippa Ristagno

Both from Piazza Armerina as far as my aunt knew.

Any information on them would be great. However Neither came to America.

Dear Mike the most immediate information for both and their immediate family would be the Certificato di Stato di Famiglia Storico (family status certificate) in the name of Filippo Romano=surname. This will give you all their children living and deceased. If you can approximate Filippo's birthyear that would cinch it!! The form letter is in http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html

after that there is always microfilm records at the mormon chruch family
istory library for the entire family line mos tlikely going back to 1809.

The particulars for Piazza Armenia is www.nonsolocap.it and just click on the name alongside the zip code, Piazza Armenia for the stato ciivle address (municipio). =Peter=

Hello peter, I trust you are staying warm and out of the icy wind swept water from the hudson.

Quick question for you. I opened the link above for Angel fire and entered in the name of the letter you advised ( family Status letter) I need to get and it came up with no responses for that.

Any ideas

Hey Michael!

Missed you today. On my way to the airport to pick up a friend but I wanted to give you a heads up, in case you weren't aware:

There is a charge for the Certificato di Stato di Famiglia Storico. Usually its between 3 to 5 euros per person included (this would also include a charge for your great grandparents). They would then more than likely charge you a "genealogy" tax of some kind (mine was 10 euros) and you would be charged to change American money into euros as well. The certificate comes with the commune stamp and all.

Some comuni have been known not to respond to these requests though because it is not part of their regular duties and it is quite time consuming so be patient. If they do the search they will contact you and let you know the cost of the document before sending it. One of mine was about 60 euros...

I just wanted to point that out so you were prepared.

Sounds good. I'll keep an eye out for it. I have company from Italy coming in tonight so if I don't get back to you right away just send me a PM. Old age is creeping up on me quickly so I tend to forget things easily.
