Searching death notices online

Post by sweetbird »

All I have is the date and the village. Is it possible to search death records with only these bits of information?

If you are referencing Italy.....very few databases online.
Can you provide more information? Do you know the name of the individual?
What village?

Not sure if Italy post obituaries as in the US....with no name how are you going to know who you are looking for?? Could be more than one person who died the same day depending on size of village.....also if official record is no more than a few years old, there are privacy laws.

Name of the town?

Your welcome and good luck!!
Maybe one of our Italian posters can answer the question of Italian Obituaries. Interested to know if it is done as here in US!

The Family History Library has microfilms for "Civil registration of births, marriages, banns, marriage documents, deaths, miscellaneous documents, foundling births, and citizenship records for Aci Castello, Catania" covering the period 1820-1929 (Click for more info.

You can easily arrange to have this microfilm sent to your local Family History Center located in a nearby Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormon)church, where you can view the film and print individual records.

This was in the last couple of years.
The Mormon films will not help as the poster is looking for a death
record as stated in the above quote.

Death record in Italy, I thought I read. The films for Aci Castello include deaths, as copied in my eariler post.

Deaths are not on line in Italy. You can find sometimes obituaries on local newspapers or you can see with the church. Churches usually publish 2-3 times a year a "Bollettino Parrocchiale". It lists all event such as marriages, births, deaths and local news of the town.

This is the address:

Parrocchia San Mauro Abate
Via Vittorio Veneto, 58
95021 ACI CASTELLO (CT)
Italy

The name of the priest is: Don Antonino Merlino

There are 6 churches in Aci Castello 3 of which have telephone numbers indicating they have resident priests....go to www.parrocchie.it and put in Aci Castello in the right side for all 6 listings =Peter=
