Crew Members Manifest

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Hi All,

I am trying to find a ship manifest for my Great Grandfather Giovanni Cergnul. Here are links to the Documents that I do have about his arrival:

If my links do not work let me know please

I have gone through the manifest for the date that he was suppose to arrive. I can not find him or any other crew members... Any suggestions

glad to say he is listed in the crew sheet of the ships manifest. Go to www.ellisisland.org and just put inhis name as if he were an arriving passenger (which he was). =PETER=

Peter,

Thank you but Giovanni is listed on the 1920 census living with his wife. This manifest says that giovanni didn't arrive until 1920 and also the ship is listed as the Argentina and my Giovanni came in on the Carpathia. So this can not be the correct Giovanni Cergnul. Do you have any other suggestions?

The Carpathia entered the USA at NYC from 1902 thru its last year of 1918. Since there is no other listing for Giovanni Cergnul then it is quite possible that his name was not transcribed correctly and there are 339 persons who have similar names listed in the MATCHING PASSENGER RECORD where below it says "SOUND LIKE ONLY". You merely have to enter his name in the ellisisland website as before and then click search and this next window with his original name will show up with the legend I mentioned above.. Now you will have to go thru 339 listings of possible Giovanni Cergnul listings spelled in a manner that "SOUNDS LIKE ONLY"

Please keep us informed. =Peter=

Hello,

In the documents to I posted in my first message that I posted, the one on the top... can you tell me the name of the person that Giovanni traveled with. I am having no luck finding Giovanni on a manifest, I thought maybe this name would be helpful. Thank you

Biff,

Thank you but Giovanni arrived in 1913 not 1914 and he was a crew member of the Carpathia.
