Riccio Family

Post by MottolaNIcholson »

I am trying to find ANY info on my family. My Dad doesn't know much, and my Nonna can't remember or confuses things. The few things I do know are as followed. My father was born in Avellino, Italy. As far as I know my Nonna was born there also. My Nonno was born here in America in Boston, Ma. He did not stay in America long. His family went back to Italy. Don't know much about him besides his father's name was Pasquale Mottola.
Then my Nonna's family is Riccio and Rafeala.(not sure on the spelling)
Her name is Carita Riccio-Mottola. She had 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Armando Riccio who lived in Watertown, Ma. at one time, family could
still be there, and Alfredo Riccio who lived in Hyde Park, Ma. Saria
or Seria Riccio, Filomenia Riccio and Gioveni(a). Her Father's name was
Generoso Riccio and his father was Ruvico Riccio. Her mother's name was
Joanna Rafeala. (I think that is the correct spelling of the last name,
but I'm not sure) As I said before, they came from Avellino, Italy, but
some were in Boston at times. Also, My dad and his mother and siblings
came to America at Ellis Island in 1954 I think, on either the Andrea
Doria or the Christopher Columbo.

YES!!! VJ you got all. My dad and I were actually talking earlier about how all these years he thought he came over on the Andrea Doria, then a couple years ago my Nonna said it might have been the Cristoforo Colombo. He's been wanting to know for sure. I have looked and looked for this info. Thank you so much! WLDSPIRIT - I am not sure if this is the right one. I do not know much about them. I don't even know if R would be his middle initial. Thank you for the info though. It is more to go on!

Unless any of your family was in the US for the 1900, 1910, 1920 or 1930 censuses, your US records may be a bit thin.
We can help you get started on your family records in Italy if you can tell us where everyone was born/married.
Records in Italy are kept at the comune (town) level.

Can you provide her date of birth? Would help narrow down a time frame for her siblings and help to determine if any records could be available.

Carita Riccio-Mottola was born on July 13th, 1913. I couldn't tell you anything about her siblings. She wouldn't even remember. VJ - My Dad did get a kick out of that. He asked if he's picture was there too.
