Looking for names of GGgrandparents/Veltre Surname

Post by StarV579 »

Hello, I have found out the names of my gggrandparents from a family member. I have found the name of the cemetery they are burried in (Chianche) and the place that they lived (Bagnara, Campania, Italy) but I do not know the birth dates for either person. Their names were Giovanni Veltre and Lisetta Pennisi. I have already checked with the Latter day saints website and checked for possible records being recorded on film. I have also checked ancestry for records with no luck.

Could I write the town in Italy and request the names and dates of their birth parents. If so, what town would I write and what format should the letter be in? Should I send money and if so how much and what currency. Thank you very much again for your help.

I could estimate the birth year pretty well, according to the birth dates of their children. I would say somewhere between 1844-1850

Maybe 1844-1855, I know there is still a ten year gap.

There is no record for Bagnara in Campania region (see Bagnara's in Italy at www.nonsolocap.it and type in Bagnara and click CERCA) in the Mormon chuch family history library on micorfilm.

The only alternative is to write to the Uffico di Stato Civile in your Bagnara using form letters found at http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html

Mail to your Bagnara by clicking on the Bagnara that comes up after you click CERCA above and under Municipio you will find the address. The service is free of charge. They may have records or they may have been destroyed but give it a try/ The next best thing is the local church which may have records if the town hall does not have any.

There is only one church in Bagnara (Benevento province) which I suspect has no resident priest since there is not telephone number listed for the church. =Peter=

Peter, thank you for the information. I looked up my bagnara and here's what I got.

Localita: Bagnara
Provience: Benevento
Region: Campania
Frazione di: Sant' Angelo a Cupolo

One church in Bagnara. Do you think that I will have any luck if I write the Uffico di Stato Civile?

I'm thinking about writing the one located in Sant' Angelo A cupolo

thanks again

wow, that letter writing guide was really confusing. I feel like I don't know who to write now. I know the town they were burried in Chianche and I know that they lived in Bagnara. So you say that there is only one church. Would you contact the church or a larger city? thanks

you left out the CAP (their ZIP CODE) 82010 and I am not aware if there is any charge for a certificato di Stato di Famiglia Storico (family certificate) for Bagnara (BE). =Peter=

Hi StarV,

There was another thread listing the cost
http://italiangenealogy.tardio.com/Foru ... =8712.html

If you go to the 7th response from forum member suanj and the 8th response from forum moderator nuccia you will see what the typical charges are. You may want to send a pm to suanj or nuccia and ask what is the best way for you to proceed.

From what I gather each comune can levy whatever charge they wish but I could be wrong and the charges just vary from comune to comune, if any at all.

If I were doing the requesting I would send in the form letter and wait for them to send me a bill for whatever charge , if any. =Peter=

Peter and all,

thank you so much for your help. Ok so I looked under Bagnara, on the website (nonsolocap.com) and it listed Bagnara, Benevento, Frazioni: Comune di Sant'Angelo a Cupolo.

Here's the address I pulled

Comune di Sant'Angelo a Cupolo
Via Pietro Nenni 3
82010 Sant'Angelo a Cupolo BN

does this sound correct to you? I read Billidekids response too.

Would you include $15 american dollars in the letter or would you first write and request a bill if there is one?

So do you think that my address is correct if my ggrandparents lived in Bagnara, Benevento to write the comune of Sant'Angelo a Cupolo?

What is the currency exchange? Did you mean $1.00 US to $0.75 in Italy?

would mailing cash be ok?

thanks again,

Don't forget to add Italy in the address...

Comune di Sant'Angelo a Cupolo
Via Pietro Nenni 3
82010 Sant'Angelo a Cupolo BN
Italy

I would not include any money in the enevelope, and rather request for a quotation

Thank you again. So, you would not send money, even if you were requesting the names of your gggrandparents parents. ?
