So that members do not duplicate records, can you tell us what records you have obtained so far....have you completed all US research?
Manifest? Naturalization? Census? Birth or death records?
Was Giuseppe married? Spouses name with maiden surname? Children?
Birth dates or year for everyone would be most helpful.

You know, if you could speak to Edmondo and have at the top of each forum pages a box that explains how to write a meaningful quiry. So many of the first posts are random questions. Then they never respond, never check back. Everyone should get an automatic notice of a response for their first posts.
Often, those who are experienced with looking things up for people can tell a lot about what the poster is looking for even without further input from the poster. So we can find out about Pasquale who was married to Incoronata in 1898 in some part of Italy even though the poster never mentnioned it.
Thing is, bad questions usually indicate that this person hasn't really gotten a lot of information and they don't know what they need to find...that is why they phrase the question broadly, without specific names, dates, places.
So, at the top of each forum page, it would definately pay to give advice on posting. Just make it part of a "Posting for the first time" advise box and ask them to include, names, approximate dates of birth, marriage death, name of parents if known, name of spouse, name of children and the location they came from and where they lived their lives. And you can include questions about what they have obtained so far in the US or England or Canada or South America or wherever.
New people have the most problems and I think if you could help them create their question, it would help them to proceed logically with the inforamtion provided.
And as usual, people like you and VJ and Peter and Suanj and others always seem to find exaclty what they are looking for. That is why this site is sooooo effective....even when they don't know they were looking for it, they find it!

However, I do like your suggestion regarding this announcement being at the beginning of each and every thread and will be sure to pass it along!I have, over the last few months seen a number of threads become totally bogged down with information which is of little or no use to the original researcher.
We are all at some time or another guilty of jumping in at the deep end and presuming that WE KNOW what they are looking for and then pursuing that line without clarifying what are their needs before we do so... That then creates confusion for the poor original poster, who will often try to clarify what they are actually looking for...
In addition many posters these days are not English mother tongue speakers and do their very best to explain what they want - often by using electronic translators - and we all know that they can be the cause of many misunderstandings.
So - for what it's worth - I feel that if a member is seeking some information and they are not sure how to ask in English - then if they post the request in their own tongue someone will be able to translate it so misunderstandings don't happen and a lot of time isn't wasted finding information that was never asked for!
In addition, members please pay attention to the questions that are asked and try to provide them. It is nice to occasionally provide additional helpful information when appropriate but not necessary to completely research a line and offer info which is neither asked for or possibly duplicated. Ask the correct questions to ensure we are giving the poster what he or she wants.
