Di Simoni / DiSimoni / DeSimone

Post by marne »

Hi Everyone. I was looking for any information on my great grandfather Carmine Di Simoni. Could also be spelled Carmin, Carmen, De Simone, DeSimone, DiSimoni. He was born in Campagna, Italy in 1888 (I don't have the day and month) and immigrated to the United States on April 30th 1905. Other information...

brother: Giovanni
wife: Julia
children: Frank, Joseph, Mary, Michael, Ralph

I'm hoping to find his date of birth and naturalization for the purpose of obtaining Italian citizenship. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hello!
We'll all be happy to see what we can do to help.
Just for everyone's reference, is this the correct manifest?
Thanks! Valarie

Hi Valarie. That's awesome. I believe it's a perfect match.

Though the manifest shows "Lackawanna" crossed with "Coyne" or "Cayne" above it, he settled in Old Forge, Pennsylvania in the county of Lackawanna. Too, there isn't a city named Coyne or Cayne in Pennsylvania.

Thanks for your assistance. I really appreciate it.

I'm amazed at what you found, and how quickly. I guess the question is, now, how to obtain official copies.

I know birth certificates are obtained at the state office of vital statistics. Would I also get/research marriage certificates there? And how about the certificate of naturalization (department of state?)?
