I know this one is tough, I guess they used a light pen in those days....but can anyone help translate this? I think they were using three digits for the year, e.g. 1906 would be written as "906".
This is the oldest sibling of my paternal great grandfather.
This is the annotation in the margin of the birth certificate (from Milazzo, Sicily, the birth is in the 1870's), which usually was written in pen for a marriage and with a stamp for deaths. So this is likely a marriage notation.
May 24, and then is it "909"? "919"? She was born in 1877, so she would be 23 in 1900, 33 in 1909, which seems kind of late in life to be married.
The surname of the husband could be "Lo Duca" (though La Rosa I think was also common, but that looks more like a "D" to me).
If anyone can see anything else, esp. help with the date which will help me find the microfilm that has the actual marriage record, it would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Marriage annotation question
Could be 24-5-917 standing for June 24, 1917. Milazzo. Act number II B.
Married Lo .....? Sorry.

I think it could be 1907 and not 1917. The surname is hard to decipher, but i'm in favour of Lo Russo. The name is Danila (but only at 20% of probability!)

Luca,
eh sì, capita. Sai com'è ho anche compiuto gli anni. Eh, la vecchiaia.
Yes, it could be 1907.
I think this is a birth act of a woman: Amato Rosa
Danila is feminine .....

Re: Marriage annotation question
Yes, the document is the birth certificate of Rosa Amato, but the annotations on the birth certificates are usually either marriage or death. The year 1907 would make her about 30 years old. Lo Russo is possible, I will look into it. Thanks!uantiti wrote:Luca,
