Help in translating birth record

Post by margaretanne »

Hello All,
Would anyone be able to help translate my Grandfather's birth record?
His name was Vito Tangi. Father: Donato, Mother: Vincenza Cavalieri.
Born in Faeto.

I hope the image is attached. I used Image Shack.

Thank you,
Margaret Anne

Here's a paraphrase of the record, subject to correction from those in the forum with much more experience than I have.

This is a birth record dated 20 April 1882, at 8:20 AM. Donato Tangi, age 30, laborer, resident of Faeto, appeared in the town hall before Geremia Pavia, the town clerk delegated by the mayor as Registrar of Vital Records of the town of Faeto, Province of Capitanata, and declared that on 17 April 1882 at 5 PM at Campo Agario #86, a son was born to him and his wife Vincenza Cavalieri, age 31, and the child was named Vito. Appearing as witnesses were Angelo Tangi, age 41, a landowner, and Stanislao Motonori, age 41, teacher [?], both residents of Faeto. The Registrar read the birth record to all three, and everyone signed it.

Hope this gets you started.

Best,
Jerry
