Notations on Manifest
Notations on Manifest
Does any one know what the added notation of 902/905 would mean on a ship manafest
Re: Notations on Manifest
This site should help you to figure out the markings:

Re: Notations on Manifest
It could possibly mean that your ancestor was here in the years of 1902 and 1905. What is the date on the manifest you have. I also have an uncle who was here more then once before settling. "A Bird of passage" is what they are called.

Re: Notations on Manifest
It would seem that since the number jumps from 902 to 905 may be either 905 or 902 and are being misread since form numbers were usually in 3 digits. Further numbering on ships manifests were all about arrival, admission, detention or release and perhaps the ships manifest may show a column just for other entries. Can you give us the arrival date, ships name and passe nger names so we can examine the manifest directly please? =Peter=

Re: Notations on Manifest
Hi.....Looking at the manifest now. I do believe that is exactly what the 902/905 is. The person was here before. However I believe it was 902/903.
Here is the manifest from 1903. I believe it was the same Nicola.

Re: Notations on Manifest
I had noticed both Nicla's, but the age on the 1903 manafest is older then the one on the 1905 manifest. How could they be the same person unless the age was incorrect?

Re: Notations on Manifest
I is not unusual for ages to be incorrect. Look for some other clues on the manifest. Did Nicola have a brother, Giuseppi? Did he have a cousin, Luigi?
