that does appear to be the correct ship manifest. The info that I have matches with the manifest. I just wish I could find something from Italy.

I'm so glad we could help!
Please let us know if you're missing any of your US records - we'd be happy to help you look.

If you'd like to order a confiming birth record for your grandfather from Siderno you can also write directly to the comune (no charge)

Hi Superduty,

I'm not sure if you still check in or not, but since 2009, researching has been made a bit easier and many vital records for Siderno are available online. I am also the descendant of a Gimondo from Siderno. I looked and there was only one Vincenzo Gimondo born in Siderno in 1892. Here is a link to his birth record (number 58):

http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... 5.jpg.html

Click on the image to further enlarge it and download it.

According to this, he was born on May 1, 1892 at Via San Carlo, 4 in Siderno Superiore.

Although I am a descendant of a Gimondo from Siderno, I do not know of a link to Vincenzo's father, listed as Francesco on the birth record, though his full name was Giuseppe Francesco Gimondo on his 1888 marriage record. I am distantly related to this Vincenzo's mother, Maria Fratia (Maria Giuseppa Fratia on the marriage license).
