Im looking for my great grandfather´s birth certificate. His name was Pablo Leonardo Danese and apparently he was born in Monopoli, Bari in 1882. He married Madia Petrosillo.
I would be grateful if you could help me or guide me in order to know how to start searching!

They have civil records from the years 1809-1900 on microfilm. You will probably have to order them from the library in Salt Lake City for a small fee of $5.00. You can also mail the Comune using this forum letter http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... civile.asp

Dear MDanese go to the following website and request a birth record (estratto di nascita=long form)) from the Ufficio di Stato Civile in Monopoli, (BA), Puglia Italy
The website http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html will provide you with the form letters and documents which you can obtain from the Uffico di Stato Civile free of charge. The estratto di Nasc ita willpro vide his parents names. Normally you can wait 6-8 weeks for receipt of the documents.
The address for the Uffico di Stato Civile is www.tuttitalia.it/puglia/60-monopoli and scrolll down to MUNICIPIO for the address to mail your request. =Peter=
