My Dad's girlfriend's first husband's last name was Sottile from Brooklyn.
I copied and pasted your email into a email to my Dad, so he can share it with her. She can then pass it on to him. Maybe he would know these people.

Hi,
I have Sottile's in my family, they were from Messina in Sicily.
They may have been from Saponara, but I am not sure.

Thanks,
Joann

Another piece of information: The death certificate of John R. Sottile's father, Anthony Sottile Sr. reveals that John R. and Margaret Sottile lived at 551 Nostrand Avenue in 1947.

Further contact with Helen Sottile has been aborted by the funeral home, as they can't spend time on non business communication. And understandably they wont hand out personal contact information. So therefor:
Does anyone know about a Helen Sottile, who married Anthony Sottile in 1981, probably in the New York area? Anthony died in 1998. In the phone book there's only one Helen Sottile, in Bayside. Unfortunately she's not listed her number.
In "peoplesearch" I also find one Helen Cohen Sottile in Pearl River/Middle Village, with a Anthony G. Sottile listed as relative. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to access these people finder sites from outside USA. If anyone of you are subscribing to these sites, I'd appreciate it a lot if you could try searching for these Helen's for me.

I've just found out that when the Sottile family emigrated to New York with the König Albert on june 1. 1906, John Sottile had a brother Pasquale (born 1898) and a sister Teresina (born 1895). One Pasquale Sottile marries in Brooklyn on april 28. 1921 according to the databases on www.italiangen.org. Does anyone know if Pasquale and Teresina has living relatives?

In the 1920 census Teresinaa (Tessie) is living with her husband Anthony Rizzuto at (Stendale Evergreen???) in Queens. She is naturalized, and they have two children Angelina (born about 1916) and Nathan (born about 1917). Her brothers Pasquale (Patsy???) and John are living in the same house, and Anthonys parents (Nathan and Mary Rizzuto) seems to be living next door. I'd be thankful to hear about any findings of these people in the 1930 census or other sources, or if anyone know what happened to the children Nathan and Angelina.

thelebrity wrote:No children of John and Margaret are known, but John had one brother, Anthony, who died in 1998. Anthony is buried at St. Johns, at the Sottile family grave, together with his father Anthony Sr. (1861-1947), his mother Rose (1871-1958), Margaret and John.
The family who was living near the Rizzuto's is this:

Could it be the right family?
