San Vitaliano, Napoli, Campania, Italy. Name changed many, many moons ago from San Vitagliano which would be the name of comune for the census.
I really appreciate your assistance. Thanks.

i found it. Terra di Lavoro.
That's what they called the part of the census that San Vitagliano was in.

Re: Catasti Onciari
Sorry! It didn't register in my beanie brain that they would need that information, just the current location, but you got the right place.
Thanks again for your help,

Re: Catasti Onciari
I just now got a copy of the catasto for Villa Santa Lucia, thanks to a researcher who facilitated the process. I wanted a copy of the whole thing, which amounted to about 450 pages, so the expense of the copy and shipping from Italy to the U.S. was not trivial but I had it in less than a month. Joe de Simone was very easy to work with, and would certainly recommend him.jspdg wrote:I'm bringing this back to the top again.
Consulting the Catasti Onciari for one or more communes around the city of Avellino would be the next logical step for me in my research.
Vince, did you ever find anyone to help in this regard?
Does anyone else have recent experiences with requesting microfilm copies of the Catasti from the archives in Napoli?

It was totally worth it, I must say. I just got it today, so I haven't fully processed it all, but I am very excited.
Re: Catasti Onciari
Earlier in this thread someone mentione that the Catasti is not the only document available for this time. Here is my dilemma: I researched all the civile records for the communi and have 3 separate family trees. I orderd and received the catasti onciari from the town hoping to find the connection. Unfortunately i didn't. I am missing about 40 years between 1742 and 1809 to make that connection. I am beginning to think my ancestors migrated from another town which is completely possible.
Any suggestions on how I can fill that gap? Church records maybe?
Communi: PortoCannone, Campobasse, Molise
cognome: Di Legge
Thanks!

Re: Catasti Onciari
Did you search the processetti records carefully. I was able to extend most of my lines from 1809 to the early 1700s (or earlier) through the birth and death extracts found in the processetti. The processetti for PortoCannone (1809-1865) have been filmed by the LDS.

Thank you. I have them in permanent loan. I will take a closer look
Re: Catasti Onciari
Hi lola66, when you say you ordered and received the catasti onciari records from the town, how was the request made and what did you receive? Did you receive just information on your family or the whole document for the town?
My family is also from the province of Campobasso.
