Mari Mabus wrote:I am confused regarding the translation of page #1

Paola writes:
Pages 1 and 2 contain the birth record of Giuseppe Spina, son of Nicolò Spina and his wife Agnese Piccione, born in Poggioreale August 13 1887, in the (family) house in via Iura (?) The birth was declared August 14 by the midwife Witnesses Giuseppe Spina 54 (the grandfather?) and Pietro Scardino 65, both "civili" = well-to-do

Angela writes:
Page 1
Birth No 99: Pietro Scardino
Recorded 15 August 1887, Poggioreale
Rosa Caronna, 64, levatrice (midwife), living Poggioreale, reported that at 9.20 pm on 14 of the current month at a house in via Comune?, was born to Apollonia Longo and Rosario Scardino, a son who was given the name Pietro Scardino.
Witnesses: Giuseppe Spina, 54 and Pietro Scardino, 65, both Civile.
Some how, the pages are out of sinc. Paola has correctly translated Record No 98 for you which begins on Page 2 and ends on Page 1 and that is why she has said that "Pages 1 and 2 contain the birth record of Giuseppe Spina....". She is correct.

The Birth Record for Pietro Scardino (No 99) which appears on page 1 probably doesn't apply to you at all. Sorry for the confusion and great that you queried this. :)

Page 6 is Rosaria Spina's birth record. On the right column someone (the handwriting is not the same as the one in the record) wrote Sara. What does it mean? I don't know.

I think my Mother thought this was her Aunt Saras birth certificate as that is my Mothers handwriting. Could Rosaria possibly be "Americanised" as Sara?

On Oct 18 1891 at 10:11am appeared Rosa Coronna, midwife, to announce the birth of a female baby (that she presented to the officer) whose parents are the spouses Nicolò Spina and Teresa Piccione. The baby was born on Oct 17 at 10:14pm, in the house located in "Discesa Vicario Tusa nr 25" and was named Rosaria Spina

Is there any possible way I would be able to post one more page, page #10 ? The site says I have exceeded the maximum number of pages.

It is my final page and I would be so grateful if I could get it translated.

Can anyone possibly make out the bride and grooms parents surnames on page 9? I would be so grateful.
