Ciao Ricbru,

Ci sentiamo ciao ricbru

Sometimes it is easier sending to Salt Lake City a photocopy form

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... rofilm.pdf

requesting a copy or a record that should be in a file, than renting the microfilm that arrives here in Trento after 3 months.
At least you can have a chance to try, and somebodyelse do the research on that microfilm for you in less than one month,
bye Riccardo

Hi Ricbru,

You cannot just order a document from Salt Lake!

You need to know the film number, the page number, the Act number along with the name and exact date.

The volunteers at Salt Lake do not do research for you. However, you can hire one out there if you like.

It's easier to order the microfilm and do the research. Also, if you have trouble getting film in Italy, maybe someone in the USA will be willing to order it for you. It usually takes 3-4 weeks for film to come in.

Remember, I volunteer every Wednesday at a Family History Center in New Jeresy so I do know how it works.

Have a great day!

Thrish,
I already done it that way, I just gave them the number of the microfilm, and they just rolled it since they found or not the copy I was looking for,
believe me, it works

jcsm400,
sometimes it is a problem to get a copy of parish record, because the priest don't like people researching in their archive, they don't like people as genealogist or who wants to build genealogy tree.
The priest is afraid if anyone wants to steal original acts from records...
At least they can give you a parish certificate...
Or maybe, ifyou give them money....a lot...who knows....but I can tell you it is not easy, I have experience about that...

Hi There,

The Latter Day Saints (aka- Mormons) are in Italy now filming. What towns they are filming, I'm not sure. You can always send an email directly to Salt Lake City and ask questions.

Here's the link where to write
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... il_fhl.asp

Also, I know many people who have gone to Italy themselves and have been successful in taking digital pictures of their ancestor's records as well as several have been able to take pictures of church records.

I hope this helps

Trish,
I guess they have been lucky.
The priest of S. Pietro church in Trapani, doesn't allow me to research on the parish records of the last centuries.
He told me a lie, 8O he told me that all the records were on restoration.
I went to the Sovrintendenza Beni Culturali e Ambientali in Trapani (office of the Italian public administration that is in charge of old records and monument) and the manager told me that those records never been restoreted by the Sovrintendenza, and they are still in the church
This is my experience,
I hope it helps, bye Riccardo

Hi Everyone,

I was just kidding around, some! But would it not be wonderful if all parish records were filmed (going back to the 1700's, 1600's, etc)?????????

widspirit
My research is in San Vitaliano, Napoli & Armento, Potenza. Not even close to yours. Oh Well!! Just wishful thinking.
