I was a bit mythed that the marriage record between Domenico and Maria Castelli doesn’t mention him being a widower, so I’ve located the pubblication which lists him as “nubile” – unmarried. (I have seen “nubile” used for a male before but usually it is used for a never before married bride. The word “celibe” is usually given to an unmarried male.) Anyway, if your scroll down to the hand written section you will see that a copy of Giuseppina Gualandi’s Death Act had been presented. It doesn’t give a date or anything, and unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any allegati online for 1922 so I can't fetch a copy there.

Pubblication (Marriage Bann) No 16: Domenico Guidotti and Maria Castelli: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=1947797

BTW: Great work finding Luigi's petition for naturalisation. It's good to have a photo of him as well, if you didn't already have one.

Here is an extract of Giuseppina Gualandi’s death record, which I located amongst the 1922 supplementary documents, sent in from the US:

Death Act: Giuseppina Gualandi: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=1947797

If you want it translated, just post it to our translations forum.

Thank you!

Just sharing this since we spent alot of time hunting down Domenico...

He married Giuseppina in 1911 in the US (Farmington, IL area)
She was born in Gaggio Montano Born in 1890 - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=1947797

She died in 1920 in Farmington, IL (they had 3 kids prior to her death)

He returned with the 3 kids to Gaggio Montano in 1921 (passport to travel)

(607 and 608) 608 has a picture of him and the kids too!

The 2nd marriage you found I think helps with the why on the timing, which was basically reporting he's no longer a US citizen as he became a Italian citizen again on the back of the naturalization card.

Appreciate all the help, I will post some of the spouses in the other forums as you noted. I'm going to reach out to the commune to see if they can help with the Domenico Andrea's death cert since it looks like he out lived most of his family (even the online archives :) Hopefully they are more responsive than San Martino :)

Thanks
D.

Thank you for the update. Beautiful children, but they look so sad. Interesting that he gave up his American Citizenship? Maybe they didn't have dual citizenship back then. All the best with finding Domenico Andrea's death record. I noticed that some of the Death Records are missing so he may have even died during that time.

All the best.
