Re: French Canadian Birth Record
I am contacting all of you about the DiPirro family that entered the US through the Port of Chicago via Canada.
I am a great-granddaughter of the DiPirro couple who immigrated to Chicago in the 1880-1890's. I believe they entered the US with their oldest two children: Vito born in Armento before they left Italy, and Rosa born in Canada whilst they were awaiting permission to enter the US. Then my grandfather Michael, their third child, was the first of the family to be born in America.
About 12 years ago (~2002), I was in touch with 2 distant relatives (cousins-in-law) who were attempting to research the family at that time and I had shared the family tree that I had built on Ancestry.com. One of them (I'll dig out the paperwork tomorrow) had shared the Italian documentation she had managed to find, including some documents dated as far back as the late 1700's, which are handwritten, so very difficult to read.
My lineage connection is: Pietro and Anna > Michael DiPirro (Chicago) > Ruth Evelyn DiPirro Manning (third child, second daughter) > Lilla Michelle Manning (only child, now Michelle Goldsmith -- that's me!) I have information regarding Michael DiPirro's branch and most of his siblings. I remember the Lombardi's and used to have an "uncle" who was actually my mother's cousin, named Pete Lombardi. I do remember Great-Aunt Rosa and Great-Aunt "B" (Elizabeth), as well.
In any event, I am now re-starting my family tree search, so would like to touch base with any of you who are still interested. I would be happy to exchange information and research via email or postal mail with anyone who would like to do so.

Re: French Canadian Birth Record
Just an edit for above, It may be that my grandfather was further down in the birth order, but that means that if Mary and Catherine were born before him, they may also have been born in Canada. I also remember something about one of his siblings living on Racine Avenue (you have it as Rasvine I think). And the family house that I remember (Aunt Rosa's?) was a big white clad two-story house with a veranda in either Beverly or East Beverly (communities in Chicago) I believe it was on the corner of Beverly Avenue and Vincennes, where it crosses 103rd street (now a post office is there). Rosa's brother Michael DiPirro (my grandfather) and his wife Bernice, with their children Maryanne, Michael (Jr), Ruth (my mother), and Diane live near 103rd and Halsted, not very far away in Washington Heights. They lived there in the 1930's and were there until the 1980's. Then they moved to Kedzie Avenue. Hope these ancient memories help
